How Sheffield Uniteds organised chaos is baffling teams and leading them to safety

, How Sheffield Uniteds organised chaos is baffling teams and leading them to safety

SHEFFIELD UNITED have brought out the footballing snobs in everyone.

I have covered the Blades for the last couple of seasons, way back when they were in the depths of League One.

Victory over Arsenal on Monday was a standout moment for the Blades

And what I didnt understand when they got promoted was the assumption they were, and still are, a long ball smash-and-grab team.

It couldnt be further from the truth. Instead, they play what I like to call organised chaos and its the biggest compliment I can give them.

You see the right centre-back of the back three in the right-wing position and you think How does that work? but it does. By doing this they outnumber the opposition in the wide areas, and are somehow able to remain solid when defending on the counter.

They have the joint best defence in the league and are yet to lose a game by more than one goal.

And all the while they are giving their two outside centre-backs the license to join in on attacks.

Its unbelievable.

And the most intriguing thing is no one has figured out how to contain it and I put myself in that category.

West Ham will certainly have their hands full at the London Stadium this afternoon.

But this isnt just a flash in the plan idea from boss Chris Wilder. He was playing this way in the third tier of English football.

United will be safe this season, and thats a view Ive had right from the start.
