Tottenham ratings: Gazzaniga saves Spurs from humiliation as Alli goes missing against Liverpool

PAULO GAZZANIGA proved he is worthy of filling the void left by Hugo Lloris with an impressive display against Liverpool.

The Argentine goalkeeper was Tottenham’s best player on the pitch during the 2-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield.

Paulo Gazzaniga proved he is worthy of filling the void left by Hugo Lloris

Here’s how Joe Miles rated the Tottenham team….

PAULO GAZZANIGA – 8

Tottenham’s best player throughout by a long way. He made a fantastic double save to deny Salah and Firmino.

He saved a long range effort from Alexander-Arnold and was quick off his line to deal with any deliveries into the box.

SERGE AURIER – 4

Gave away the penalty after his reckless challenge of Mane. Picked up a knock in the early stages, but was able to carry on.

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD – 5

Almost gifted Liverpool a second when Mane beat him to a header, but luckily Salah was unable to convert.

Came close to scoring an equaliser during Tottenham’s last attack of the game, but his header was easily dealt with by Allison.

DAVINSON SANCHEZ – 6

Defended well – made a handful of crucial clearances and tackles to help ease the pressure on Gazzaniga.

DANNY ROSE – 5

Defending was poor for Henderson’s equaliser. He missed a chance to level the scoring in the 88th minute as he sent the ball way over the target from inside of the box.

Dele Alli put in another disappointing shift for Spurs against Liverpool

HARRY WINKS – 5

Was hauled off and replaced by Ndombele after an incredibly mediocre 60 minutes. Looked menacing moving forward, but his defensive play has to improve.

MOUSSA SISSOKO – 6

Looked dangerous with the ball at his feet and made light work of Henderson and Wijnaldum. But he made a handful of dodgy tackles to give away unnecessary fouls.

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN – 3

Struggled to deal with the pace of Robertson out wide. Tracked back well, but failed to make an impact going forward.

Had a good effort on goal after an assist from Dele Alli, but it went just wide of the woodwork.

DELE ALLI – 3

The England international went missing for 90 minutes.

Failed to cause Liverpool any problems, was wasteful in possession and was regularly caught out of possession.

SON HEUNG-MIN – 6

His deflected strike created Kane’s opener, but apart from that it was an average display from the South Korean on his 200th appearance for the club. Missed an open goal in the early stages of the second half.

HARRY KANE – 6

Stunned Anfield as he opened the scoring after just 48 seconds.

The England striker headed the ball into an empty after Son-Heung min’s strike hit the bar and dropped kindly into his path.
