Granit Xhaka could be stripped of Arsenal captaincy as boss Unai Emery fumes over f*** off rant at fans

GRANIT XHAKA could lose the Arsenal captaincy after mouthing f*** off at his own supporters.

The Swiss ace was jeered off the Emirates pitch when subbed by Unai Emery after 61 minutes of the draw with Crystal Palace.

Granit Xhaka told fans to ‘f*** off’ after being subbed

Astonishingly, Xhaka cupped his ears sarcastically to fans and swore, before ripping off his shirt and storming down the tunnel.

Boss Emery said: We are going to speak with him. In one moment he was very hot. His reaction was wrong.

Xhaka was wrong. Now we need to stay calm and speak to him inside the club about that reaction.

We are here because we have supporters. We play for them and need to respect them, whether they applaud or criticise.

Now is not the time to speak about the captaincy but we are working with every player to manage dealing with the pressure.

We can play with our hearts and sometimes get hot in difficult moments but must always be clever.

Ive had similar in the past but this evening the connection between team and fans was amazing.

There was one small individual incident but they support us and we must respect them.

Emery was also fuming at two decisions when ref Martin Atkinson was twice over-ruled by Aussie VAR official Jarred Gillett.

Palace got a first-half penalty for an incident that had seen Atkinson book Wilfried Zaha for diving.

Then Arsenal had an 83rd-minute winner ruled out for a Calum Chambers foul on Luka Milivojevic.

Emery said: In our last home match with Bournemouth we had a clear penalty but VAR didnt check.

In our last game at Sheffield United we also had a clear penalty and again they didnt check.

Today the referee said Zaha was simulation and its amazing they decided to check that penalty.

Then we scored a third goal and VAR said it was a foul but it was not.

I dont know who is on VAR but if the ref watched replays on the TV by the pitch, I am sure he would decide it was not a foul.

It seems this week theyre suddenly checking more actions but we need to manage VAR in the right way because at the moment its not working.
