Why is nobody picking players from the Premier League’s surprise package this season?

Sheffield United have wowed fans and critics with their easy-on-the-eye playing style, and they’re currently sat 8th in the league table following their 1-1 draw at West Ham at the weekend.

But despite that, Chris Wilder’s players remain criminally under-picked on Dream Team.

Defenders Chris Basham, Enda Stevens and John Egan have all scored over 30 points on fantasy football so far, midfielders Oliver Norwood and John Lundstram have been consistent points-scorers, and striker Lys Mousset appears to be getting to grips with life at the club by netting three times this season.

But despite that, their players grace less than 1% of teams on Dream Team.

In fact, the most-picked player from the Blades squad at the moment is their goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who’s been picked by 0.7% of managers on the game.

And even that’s pretty surprising, as Hendo is the second-best keeper right now with 31 points – with only Ederson above him with 53 points.

Why is nobody picking these players?

Sure, they’re not quite household names, but collectively they’ve proven their ability time and time again in these first few months of the campaign.

In their clash with Liverpool last month, they held their own against the mighty league leaders and arguably gave Jurgen Klopp the biggest test he’s faced this season – with the Reds eventually netting a scrappy goal in their 1-0 win through an unfortunate goalkeeping gaffe.

Recent wins over Everton and Arsenal have also caught the eye, but perhaps not enough to really muster some hype.

Perhaps fantasy football fans are fearing the bubble will burst for the high-flying Blades over the next few weeks?

They host Burnley at the weekend before a tricky trip to down-in-the-dumps Spurs, followed by a visit to Man United.

If they come away from those games with a point (or three) and their players continue to over-perform on Dream Team, then perhaps we’ll start to see them picked in more teams.
