How Arsenal could line up under Mourinho with Rice, Fernandes and Alderweireld

THIS could be how Arsenal line up if Jose Mourinho takes charge.

SunSport exclusively revealed how the Special One is primed for a Premier League return, nearly a year after leaving Manchester United.

And Arsenal could soon be on the hunt for a new gaffer as the pressure builds on Unai Emery.

The Gunners currently sit fifth in the Premier League table.

But theyve won just one of their last three games, a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over minnows Vitoria in the Europa League.

Defeat in the previous game to Sheffield United saw Emery come under attack from frustrated fans.

And tensions boiled over on Sunday when Arsenal blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Crystal Palace.

The game was marred by home supporters booing club captain Granit Xhaka as he left the pitch, with the Swiss midfielder responding by sarcastically applauding before telling them to f*** off.

Meanwhile, Mourinho continues to wait for his next destination after failing to receive a suitable offer over the summer.

And should he take over at the Emirates, the Special One could look to strengthen the spine of the side with three signings.

In defence, Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of Toby Alderweireld.

He tried to bring the Spurs ace, 30, to Manchester United on numerous occasions.

And with the Belgian out of contract at the end of the season, and Tottenham also in decline, Mourinho could be tempted to reach out across the north London divide and poach a fierce rivals star centre-back.

Arsenal look to already be solid in attack, with Nicolas Pepe completing a formidable front three alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

So it may be midfield where Mourinho puts all his albeit limited Arsenal resources.

The Portuguese tactician would love to link up with Declan Rice after monitoring the West Ham ace at Man Utd.

The England ace, 20, would play the Claude Makelele ‘anchorman’ role, giving the ever-improving Matteo Guendouzi the opportunity to bomb forward and dictate the play.

While Sporting Lisbons Bruno Fernandes, 25, could be the perfect goal-getter drifting around the box in the mould of Frank Lampard from Mourinhos title-winning Chelsea days.

Speaking about Fernandes in June, Mourinho told Eleven Sports: I was surprised by the season of Bruno Fernandes.

It was easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but scored a very high number of goals for a midfield player.

It shows that you need to have instinct and qualities to score and he has it all.

He strikes the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He finds space in the penalty area. Its all there.
