EXCITING chaser White Moon will bid to set off a few fireworks of his own in Saturday’s Badger Beers Silver Trophy.

Colin Tizzard’s electric grey is a general 7-1 joint-favourite for Wincanton’s prestigious contest.

However, connections will be hoping the seven-year-old can banish memories of his mishap in a handicap chase at the track last month.

Two lengths clear at the final flight and with the race at his mercy, he stumbled after the final fence and gave jockey Robbie Power no chance.

Even though that was disappointing end, it was a much improved performance on his form of last year – and Tizzard reckons he’ll have no such problems in the jumping department again.

He said: “He fell at the final fence last time but seems to have come out of it absolutely fine.

“It was a bit unlucky really as he jumped it well but just stumbled on landing.
“He’s been doing lots of schooling at home and has looked good since.”

A hugely exciting prospect in his youth, everything went a bit upside down for the son ofSholokhov last year.

With just one victory from five starts, he was lacklustre at best, struggling badly in both his final two starts at Warwick at Kempton.

Tizzard subsequently decided to keep him off since January, and the break – and/or a wind operation – appears to have done him some good.

Tizzard said: “A wind operation could be the reason he’s improved, though I’m not so sure.

“Everyone always jumps to that conclusion but in actual fact there are a number of factors it could be.

“It may well have helped him, but he’s had a long break too and that could have a made a difference.

“Hopefully he will continue to progress.”

Also set to run on Saturday is Tizzard’s hugely exciting chaserReserve Tank.

Reserve Tank had a fantastic season last year

The five-year-old lit up the back-end of last season with two Grade 1 victories over hurdles, and despite a reverse on his chase debut at Chepstow last month, he remains a very promising novice.

Tizzard added: “He’s set to run in the Grade 2 novice chase at Wincanton.

“He should come on for his run at Chepstow last month. Quite a few of my runners have needed a run or two to find their best form and he could be one of them.

“Vision Des Flos is also entered but he’s likely to head to Newbury. It’s good to keep them apart.”
