Under-fire Arsenal boss Unai Emery given a month to save his job with Mourinho waiting in the wings

ARSENAL boss Unai Emery has been given just a month to save his job with Jose Mourinho waiting in the wings.

The Gunners are determined to give the under-fire Spaniard every chance to turn things at the Emirates around after a run of just two wins in their last nine Premier League games.

Unai Emery has a make or break month to save his Arsenal job

A section of fans turned on Emery after Arsenal allowed a lead to slip for the third time in a week as they drew 1-1 with Wolves on Saturday.

The Gunners denied reports that their Head of Football Raul Sanllehi met with Mourinho but there is mounting pressure for the club to qualify for the Champions League this season.

According to the Mirror, there is a growing fear that, while Emery’s job is not in immediate danger, he could face the sack if Arsenal are in serious danger of missing out of the top four by Christmas.

His side face a huge clash with fellow Champions League hopefuls Leicester next Saturday that could see them slip to nine points behind should they lose.

Emery has insisted that he will not walk away but the fans are losing faith and that could ultimately be the biggest factor in the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss surviving.

MOUR FOR MORE

Mourinho meanwhile is waiting for the right job to come alongbefore making a return to the dugout after being sacked by Manchester United last year.

SunSport exclusively revealed that the Special One had set his sights on becoming the first boss to win major trophies at three English clubs.

But the Mirror adds his appointment would divide opinion among fans because of his feud withArsene Wenger and many jibes at the club in the past.

Among the other candidates for the post was Arsenal icon Patrick Viera, who has since struggled in charge of Nice, and Pep Guardiolas No2 at Manchester City Mikel Arteta.

Massimiliano Allegri spent another season at Juventus after Emery was hired before taking a sabbatical and fancies a crack at English football.

Yet the Italian, who has also been linked with the vacant position at Bayern Munich, is believed to have interviewed badly as Arsenal looked to succeed Wenger.

Emery is now facing a mutiny at Arsenal with players said to be openly “taking the p***” out of the Spaniard’s accent amid fears he could lose the dressing room.

Mutinying stars were already divided over histreatment of Mesut Ozil.

And Arsenal players mocked Emery with “good ebening” impressionsafter the boss’ catchphrase went viral.
