LUCAS TORREIRA is set for showdown talks with Arsenal in a bid to clairfy his place in the team, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has been in and out of Unai Emery’s team of late and is unhappy with his role at the club, according to TuttoMercato.

Of Arsenal’s 11 Premier League games this season, Torreira has remained on the bench for three and not played a full 90 minutes in any of the rest.

As a result, the midfielder will seek assurances as to his future involvement at the Emirates and could leave in January if a satisfactory conclusion is not reached.

Former AC Milan manager Marco Giampaolo was reportedly a huge fan of Torreira’s and he is reportedly still well thought of at the San Siro giants.

The central midfielder has had a tough time of it recently and was pictured in tears after his friend Granit Xhaka was booed by Arsenal fans during their game with Crystal Palace.

Torreirawas left feeling emotional after the club captain ripped off his shirt and stormed down the tunnel.

Arsenal’s chief photographer Stuart McFarlane reluctantly shared three snaps of the 23-year-old’s reaction.

He added the caption: “Didn’t want to post these pictures but felt I had to.

“This is Lucas Torreira’s emotional reaction to the abuse Granit Xhaka received after his substitution, in tears and inconsolable.

“Absolute love and respect for his captain.”

Xhaka refused to apologise after he appeared to tell his own supporters to “f*** off”during the 2-2 draw.
