Erling Haaland and dad visited Arsenal training ground as Gunners look to rival Man Utd and Bayern in 85m transfer

ARSENAL have emerged as surprise contenders to sign brilliant Norwegian hotshot Erling Haaland, is has been claimed.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both made a play to capture the services of the 19-year-old RB Salzburg star who has been in staggering form this season.

Erling Haaland is said to have visited the Arsenal training ground with his dad with the RB Salzburg striker likely to be on the move in the summer

Haaland, son of former Leeds star Alf-Inge, has struck 26 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the German club to stand out as one of the biggest prospects in Europe.

But according to Sport Bild, Arsenal are also in the mix and under serious consideration by the player who is expected to leave Salzburg in a deal worth 85million at the end of the season.

They say that Haaland and his father have even recently visited the London club’s training ground to check out the facilities.

It is believed Salzburg are aware of the interest in their young forward and are privately resigned to him leaving next summer.

So they appear to be happy for the player and his father, who takes a vital role in deciding his next career move, to visit other clubs as he weighs up his options.

It was revealed earlier this week that the pair made a similar trip to Manchester to check out their Carrington training ground.

And reports in Germany suggest Bayern are also pressing hard in an attempt to get him to decide Munich should be his next destination.

The article claims Alf-Inge has some reservations over his son moving to the Premier League at such an early stage in his career, largely because of they physicality of the game in England.

Arsenal are well equipped in the attacking department with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang among the best in the Premier League.

But the London club appear to be ensuring they at least give themselves a chance of snapping up one of the best young talents in the country.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has barely hidden his admiration for Haaland, who he worked with during his time with Molde.

And it is believed he has asked United to go in hard in an attempt to ensure they win the battle for his signature.
