Chelsea to hire their own undercover detective to target racists and ticket touts

CHELSEA will target racists and ticket touts by hiring a spy to catch them.

Stamford Bridge chiefs have come up with the plan for an undercover detective as football continues to be hit globally by racism.

Chelsea will appoint a spy to catch racists and ticket touts

Abuse on social media, as well as discriminating and anti-social behaviour will be looked into by the spy, say The Times.

The successful applicant will work with the club’s security team and investigative functions and anti-touting priorities, with a specific focus on anti-social behaviour, discrimination and those activities and behaviours that may damage the reputation of the club.

A former detective or someone in the intelligence services would be most suited to the post.

The investigator would use CCTV and look at databases used by the insurance industry to track people’s claims.

A minority of Blues fans have been associated with far-right groups in the past.

Last season, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling was targeted by racists at the Bridge.

Club chiefs have already worked hard to remove the stain of racism which has so often tainted Stamford Bridge.

Anti-semitism has been especially targeted as part of a series of anti-discrimination drives, and the club has taken a very hard line against touts.

One tout was jailed for six months after an investigation by the club, while 11 others had High Court injunctions served on them.

Where action is necessary on touts or those using racist language, the spy would inform police and, in cases of social media abuse, tip off the likes of Twitter and Facebook.
