ARSENAL chairman Sir Chips Keswick is sensationally considering QUITTING the club amidst the chaotic reign of Unai Emery, according to reports.
The Gunners slipped to another dreadful result at the weekend, this time in a 2-2 draw at home to relegation candidates Southampton.
In fact, they were only saved further humiliation thanks a last-gasp strike from Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates.
Emery is now almost a certainty to follow Mauricio Pochettino out of North London – but he might not be the only high-ranking official to leave.
The Athletic claimed: “Sir Chips Keswick felt compelled to consider handing in his resignation as chairman of the club.”
Sir Chips is a lifelong Gooner himself, but is said to be “uncomfortable” with being “unable to take on a meaningful role” at the club.
Keswick now appears to be a club figurehead in name only, with Edu, Raul Sanllehi, Vinai Venkatesham, Huss Fahmy and Josh Kroenke the only board members with any real sway.
With the clock winding down at the Emirates on Saturday, distraught Arsenal fans booed and unleashed “Emery out” chants.
Supporters also unveiled a fresh edition of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” to the under-fire Spaniard.
Even directors Edu and Sanllehi looked furious as they stormed out of the stadium.
For years, Arsenal fans acted in the same way to club legend Arsene Wenger as their patience with the Frenchman grew thin.
Banners scrawled with “Wenger Out” popped up at sporting – and even music – events across the globe, with the club seeming to be going through it all again.
In the summer, there was genuine optimism in the red half of North London thanks to the signings of Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and Dani Ceballos amongst others on a shoestring budget.
Two weeks ago head of football Sanllehi told an Emirates staff meeting: We firmly believe Unai is the right man for the job.
But now owner Stan Kroenke’s son, Josh, is now under serious pressure to intervene – with the sacking of Emery seemingly the only legitimate course of action now.
