Arsenal fans fume at Unai Emerys bizarre claim the team has improved despite humiliating Frankfurt loss

ARSENAL fans are furious after Unai Emery bizarrely claimed Arsenal are improving.

Thats despite the Gunners suffering a humiliating 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, leaving them without a win in SEVEN matches.

Fans are furious after Unai Emery said Arsenal are improving after a 2-1 defeat to Frankfurt

Arsenal looked to be ending their dismal streak their worst since 1992 when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pounced on the stroke of half-time in the Europa League group stage clash.

However, two goals from Daichi Kamada in nine second-half minutes condemned Arsenal to their third defeat in six games.

The Gunners are now winless in their last seven matches, a run which goes back to the 3-2 victory over Vitoria on October 24.

Arsenal are already 19 points off Liverpool and eight behind the top four in the Premier League.

And they now need a win away at Standard Liege to ensure top spot in their Europa League group.

The likes of Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester City have all taken points off the North Londoners in recent weeks.

While strugglers Southampton were the latest to inflict misery on Gunners fans as they battled for a 2-2 draw at the Emirates on Saturday.

Emery enraged supporters then by claiming Arsenal had played well against the relegation candidates.

And he has not helped himself by now stating that his side are getting better and better ahead of Sundays trip to Norwich City.

Emery said: I am thinking first to analyse that match and also the Europa League matches.

Today we improved things but it wasnt enough.

I think we improved some things to make sure we could take the three points but we lost all our work in 15 minutes.

The first thing to recover confidence is to win. This is the first match we lost at home. We are better than we are showing.

The response from the players in the first half was good but the injuries were important because we needed fresh players and we couldnt do that.

I am thinking about the next match and how we can improve.

If we play like in the first half, that is the way.

Arsenal fans quickly took to Twitter to express their dismay.

One wrote: Emery is delusional. I think we improved today. Improved your chances of being sacked? I hope so.

Another quipped: Emerys reflection on the game: Today I think we improved. This man is utterly clueless!

One tweeted: Emery just said today we improved? Omg, my head is sparkling. If this guy doesnt get sacked by morning.

The board need to come out and explain what exactly is the reason why they keeping a dullard as manager. Rubbish. Shambles. Disgraceful. #EmeryOut.

Another noted: Emery just we improved improved. We drew 2-2 at the weekend which equates to one point.

We lost 2-1 tonight which equates to nada, zilch, nothing, Nil Point as they say in Eurovision. Thanks for the effort Unai but youre a fish out of water.

One declared: Dont know whether to laugh or cry.

Another added: Bless him. Im starting to feel sorry for him.

Meanwhile, Gunners legend Martin Keown has begged Emery to walk away from the Arsenal job.

Freddie Ljunberg is said to be on standby for a change at the top, and Keown reckons it’s best if Emery leaves as soon as possible.

He told BT Sport: I think he may well have taken the team as far as he can.

We just witnessed an absolute shambles of a performance, the team motivation, the team selection, the performance, the subs, it was dreadful.

The fans turned many years ago on Terry Neil, things got toxic, were getting close to that again.

Is he able to motivate the team? He seems to have lost the players.

The desire has ebbed away. The subs he made youve got Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette sitting on the bench when youre trying to get back into the game.

He might even feel he needs to step aside now. Change was needed under Wenger but now it looks like the club need to go in another direction again.

This is relegation form. Do the club really realise how tricky this is going to be?

Decisions have to be made otherwise they are going to plunge even further down the table.

Its a sad day because we still love the club. Its sad watching it.
