PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN superstar Kylian Mbappe finally got his dream selfie with Didier Drogba – TEN years after first being snubbed by the Ivorian legend.
Mbappe, then ten-years-old, was present for Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in 2009.
And the youngster wouldn’t have believed his luck when, as a favour to a friend, Drogba agreed to take a picture with him after the game.
But after a stormy and controversial encounter that saw Chelsea cruelly knocked out on away goals in the dying moments of the game.
Drogba refused to take the picture, as he was too incensed – following FOUR big penalty appeals being turned down by referee Tom Henning Ovrebo.
Ten years on, however, Drogba finally made good on his promise.
The 41-year-old presented Mbappe with his award for coming sixth in this year’s Ballon d’Or.
And the Chelsea hero, now bald, whipped his phone out to take the snap with the French World Cup winner, as well as co-host Sandy Heribert.
The 2009 semi-final against eventual winners Barcelona is infamous – and most remembered for Drogba labelling it as a “f***ing disgrace” live on TV in the moments after the match.
Chelsea had been leading 1-0 thanks to a Michael Essien strike.
But Ovrebo enraged them when he gave a free-kick rather than a penalty after a Dani Alves foul on Florent Malouda.
The temperature was raised further still after Drogba was tugged back in the box by Eric Abidal – before handballs by Gerard Pique and future Blue Samuel Eto’o were also missed.
Chelsea hearts were broken when Andres Iniesta struck from range to take Pep Guardiola’s side to the final.
Drogba was then hit with a six-match Champions League ban for his protests at the final whistle.
While Ovrebo subsequently told the Telegraph that he “can’t be proud of that performance.”
