TIGHTWAD golfer Jon Rahm joked he is dreading “writing all the cheques” to pay for his wedding to stunning Kelley Cahill.

World No 3 Rahm pocketed 3.8million for one week’s work in Dubai at the end of last month.

The European Tour Golfer of the Year, 25, won the 2.3m DP World Title and bagged an extra 1.5m for sensationally claiming the Race to Dubai with his final putt.

Spaniard Rahm – a real hothead on the course – has banked around 24.6m since turning pro in 2016.

But he joked that the biggest fear about his wedding day is not the speech or forgetting the ring, but paying for it all.

Rahm will marry University sweetheart Cahill at a church in his hometown of Bilbao next week.

And asked what he was most looking forward to about the big day, Rahm said sarcastically: “I could say so much bad stuff right now.

“I’m really looking forward to writing all those cheques to pay for it.”

But he quickly cleared things up just in case blonde American Kelly was listening.

Rahm, who is this week defending his title at Tiger Woods’ tournament the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, said: “All jokes aside, it’s going to be a Catholic wedding, a church that I grew up going to with my grandma, and it’s a really special place for all people in the city of Bilbao.

“And I think when I see those doors open and see her walking down the aisle for the first time, I think it’s going to be what I’m looking forward to the most.

“That first moment of seeing her walk down the aisle.

“There’s so many possible parts of the day I could mention, but I think that’s the single moment probably that I’m looking forward to the most.”

Rahm and Cahill met at Arizona State University in the US, where she competed in the javelin after excelling in tennis at secondary school.

Though the pair once had a falling out after Rahm shocked her with how good he was on the court.

Cahill said: “He’s killing forehands, cross-court zingers, and I’m thinking, ‘This can’t be right’.

“He was so good. I was so upset. I was actually mad for a day or two. We have not stepped foot on a tennis court since.”

The loved-up couple have lived together for two years and got engaged in June last year.

Rahm designed the ring himself – but it was not a total success.

He said: “Kelley picked the diamond, but I knew what I wanted. I designed what’s around the ring.

“It’s supposed to look like a crown and an engraving inside. It wasn’t exactly what she wanted, but she loves it.

“I was 100 per cent sure she was going to say yes. I wasnt nervous much, the only worry I had was to make the day as perfect as possible. I got lucky that it turned out pretty perfect.”
