Leicester categorically rule out selling Man Utd and Chelsea targets Maddison and Chilwell in January transfer window

LEICESTER boss Brendan Rodgers is adamant the club won’t be selling ANY of their star players in the transfer window.

The likes of Ben Chilwell and James Maddison have been linked with big moves away from the King Power.

And rookie defender Caglar Soyuncu has become the latest name to be linked with a transfer after some brilliant performances.

But in a blow to Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City Rodgers insists they will be staying put.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Celtic and Liverpool boss said: “There will be no one leaving in January. Categorically.”

He was then asked if that message had been passed down from executives at the club.

Rodgers replied: “No. But I’m sure if we speak that will be the case as well.

“I speak regularly with John Rudkin [director of football] and Top [Leicester owner] but I haven’t spoken to them today on that.

“It’s pretty clear we want to keep this squad together, it’s a very exciting team with a lot of growth and development in it. So we want to make sure that they stay around and beyond January.”

Since his move from Norwich in 2018, Maddison has been a key figure in Leicester’s progress which has seen them move into contention for the Premier League title.

Rodgers’ side are currently second, eight points behind leaders Liverpool and are on a nine-match winning streak in all competitions.

Maddison still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current 50,000-a-week contract butThe Mirrorreport that Leicester chiefs are keen to ensure his long-term future is at the King Power stadium.

Chilwell has been linked with a move to Manchester United to fill that problem, with the Red Devils also keen on Maddison too.
