IT’S a big afternoon at Cheltenham and Doncaster on Saturday, with the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup the highlight of the day.
Jack Keene and Steve Mullen, aka Templegate, have put their heads together and come up with their best bets ahead of the action.
December Novices’ Chase – Doncaster
This Grade 2 looks like a match on paper between Sam Spinner and Windsor Avenue.
And our team are also going head-to-head, with Jack favouring the former and Steve very keen on Windsor Avenue.
Bet365 Handicap Chase – Doncaster
A good betting heat here and Jack has gone for My Old Gold for top northern trainer Nicky Richards.
Steve’s original selection didn’t make the final field, so he has switched to thorough stayer Cloth Cap.
International Hurdle – Cheltenham
Not the deepest renewal of this Grade 2 contest, and Jack reckons Call Me Lord will take full advantage of a drop in trip after a good comeback at Ascot.
Steve, meanwhile, thinks last year’s Triumph Hurdle hero Pentland Hills can make a winning return to action for Nicky Henderson.
Caspian Caviar Gold Cup – Cheltenham
Steve’s big bet of the day goes here – he is really keen on Brelan D’As who was second in the BetVictor here last month.
Jack has gone each-way for Warthog, who was one place behind Brelan D’As last time but is better off at the weights now.
