Emma Lavelle hoping Paisley Park can be king of Ascot once again

EMMA LAVELLE knows it Pais to take the bold approach.

Marlboroughs finest has already brought home Ladbrokes Trophy bacon with De Rasher Counter this season and isnt shying away from further dough.

Paisley Park is hot favourite for Saturday’s Marsh Hurdle

Her stable star, Paisley Park, will bid for back-to-back wins in Saturdays Marsh Hurdle at Ascot – worth a whopping 56,950 to the winner.

Last years Sun Racing Stayers Hurdle supremo returned to action with an emphatic defeat of Thistlecrack last month and heads to Berkshire a 4-7 shot as he bids to notch his seventh race on the bounce.

Lavelle told Luck On Sunday: Hes in great form.

Hes come out of Newbury really well. Even though he had to get his head down and gallop to the line, once he got his head in front he pricked his ears again.

Last year we were on this big journey where we started out in handicaps and just really enjoyed the ride.

This year, weve had the champion in the yard and its been about trying to produce him so that hes fit enough to do himself justice.

It was different because we were getting him ready for a Grade 2 this time rather than getting him ready for his first run in handicap.

Barry Fentons done a great job with him and hes in fine form.

De Rasher Counter was a fine winner of the Ladbrokes Trophy

Lavelle also had news of her Newbury hero De Rasher Counter, who downed a host of classy handicappers in last months Ladbrokes Trophy.

The seven-year-old was ridden to perfection by young buck Ben Jones and could next head to Cheltenham.

Lavelle said: We deliberately didnt go to the Festival last season because we thought he wasnt ready for it.

He then won up at Uttoxeter and we thought afterwards well gear this season around the Ladbrokes Trophy.

He needed his prep run over hurdles and he went into Newbury in the best form possible – and thats all you can do.

The plan now is to go to Cheltenham for the Cotswold Chase and see whether hes a handicapper or good enough to run in the conditions races.
