ARSENAL owner Stan Kroenke sits on a fortune of 6.4billion – but Mikel Arteta will have limited funds in January.
The 37-year-old has said his goodbyes at Manchester City ahead of his official unveiling as the new Gunners boss.
According to the Metro, Arsenal’s hierarchy have warned him he will not be able to splash the cash in the upcoming transfer window.
SunSport exclusively revealed Arteta spent Tuesday afternoon thrashing out a deal with the Gunners bosses.
During discussions with the club, Pep Guardiola’s assistant outlined his potential transfer targets with the club.
But he is set to have limited funds – despite club owner Kroenke owning the world’s most valuable sports empire.
The billionaire owns Kroenke Sports & Entertainment – which has an estimated worth of $8.4billion.
Arsenal were left in a similar position during the summer when Unai Emery was in charge, but still managed a string of brilliant deals.
Raul Sanllehi, who is the club’s head of football, managed to keep the club within their budget while spending big.
As well as landing Nicolas Pepe for just 20million up front and William Saliba for an initial 3m, he secured deals for David Luiz, Kieran Tierney and signed Dani Ceballos on loan.
It is reported that Arteta will be given a bigger budget to work with during next summer’s transfer window.
And he reportedly wants to make Sevilla’s Antonio Zarzana his first signing when he takes over from interim boss Freddie Ljungberg.
