Pep Guardiola demanding three new transfers if he is to sign new Man City contract after falling behind Liverpool

PEP GUARDIOLA is demanding funds to land three big-name signings before agreeing to extend his contract at Manchester City, according to reports.

There is a growing feeling the Spaniard may quit City at the end of the season despite having a year left on his contract.

Pep Guardiola wants three new signings before signing an extension

The club’s poor form and the imminent departure of his assistant Mikel Artetato Arsenal has raised fresh talk that Guardiola might walk.

City currently sit 14 points behind Liverpool with their injury-hit defence proving to be Guardiola’s main issue this season.

According to the Athletic, Guardiola wants to address the issue in January by prioritising signing a left-back, central defender and a striker.

The left side of defence has remained a concern with doubts over Benjamin Mendy’s form and fitness.

Summer signing Joao Cancelo has failed to convince management having made just six league appearances.

Aymeric Laporte’s injury has also emphasised the need to buy a centre-back and finally replace Vincent Kompany who left in the summer.

A striker is on the wishlist as they search for Sergio Aguero’s long-term replacement.

Man City are prepared to promote Rodolfo Borrell as Guardiola’s assistant when Arteta eventually joins the Gunners.

The Premier League champions could then reshuffle the backroom staff at the end of the season.

SunSport exclusively revealed how Mauricio Pochettino will not commit to Real Madrid because he is waiting to see if Guardiola leaves City in the summer.
