WEST HAM have sacked sporting director Mario Husillos as they admit they got their bungling attempts to turn the club into a a Premier League force all wrong.
Husillos was brought in by the Hammers tasked with delivering old pal Manuel Pellegrini the players to turn them into a Champions League side.
But instead the Argentine has come up with over 100million of duds which has left the London club staring relegation in the face.
The 60-year-old was the man responsible for recommending the likes of Sebastien Haller, Carlos Sanchez and Pablo Fornals – who have all struggled to make any impact.
And it was Husillos who persuaded West Ham to sign hapless goalkeeper Roberto from his old club Malaga – a player who has looked well out of depth in the Premier League.
SunSport revealed two weeks ago that the West Ham board were dismayed at the signings their so-called talent spotter had come up with.
And they have acted swiftly to axe him hours after dumping Pellegrini yesterday with the club one point out of the relegation zone.
It marks the end of an embarrassing attempt from owners David Sullivan and David Gold to take the club onto the next level.
They had ignored warnings about the lack of quality and pace on their targets in blind faith that Pellegrini and Husillos knew how to build a squad from scratch.
And incoming boss David Moyes has seemingly made it clear that if any signings come in over the transfer window, he wants a say.
Moyes is on the verge of signing an 18 month deal with an option for a further year to succeed Pellegrini in charge.
The former Manchester United boss made it clear he was not prepared to accept the clubs initial offer of a six month deal, and Sullivan and Gold have been forced to give him what he wants.
