Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehis encouraging response as fans beg him to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano

, Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehis encouraging response as fans beg him to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano

ARSENAL fans forced a smile and nod out of transfer chief Raul Sanllehi in their latest bid to force a move for Dayot Upamecano.

Many Gooners have identified the RB Leipzig youngster as the key to finally improving Mikel Arteta’s defence.

A summer bid for Upamecano would have meant forking over his 92million release clause.

But the player’s reported refusal to sign a contract extension past 2021 could help make the deal affordable for Arsenal.

In light of that news, two fans spotted Gunners head of football Sanllehi and headed over with a photo of Upamecano on their phone.

The supporter suggests “Good player” to the Spaniard, which earns a smile and nod as he replies “Yeah”.

While the transfer boss was most likely being polite, fans online have leapt on his response as a cast-iron guarantee that Upamecano is a top target.

One Twitter user wrote: “Done deal lads.”

Derek posted: “Things we love to seee. arrhhh the joy is back.”

Another Gooner, Zack, added: “Loool love thisss.”

And one eager fan replied: “Done deal! In Raul we trust.”

The video, taken at the Emirates after their win over Vitoria in October, even led to some fans crediting it with planting the seed of signing the centre-back in Sanllehi’s mind.

One fan responded online: “If he signs youre going down as a club legend.”
