Hollie Doyle makes history by winning five straight races at odds of 2521-1 as Chris Hughes leads praise for top jockey

HISTORY maker Hollie Doyle wowed punters on Wednesday when riding five winners in a row at Kempton.

Love Island star Chris Hughes was among those to heap praise on the top jockey after her stunning 2521-1 five-timer.

Doyle, who last month earned a huge payday when steering True Self to success at the Saudi Cup meeting, continues to ride on the crest of a wave.

Last year she rode 151 winners, bagged her first Group 1 and finished third in the voting for BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

And she was in red-hot form at Kempton’s all-weather fixture, with 15-8 favourite Della Mare kicking off her winning streak in the 5.45.

Comfortable victories aboard Archie Watson’s Laos (7-2) and the Charlie Appleby-trained Highland Avenue (4-9f) followed, before she lifted Sir Titan (14-1) across the line in a tight finish.

And Madrinho (8-1) stayed on nicely from off the pace to make it a fab five in the penultimate race on the card, in the process completing a treble for trainer Tony Carroll.

Hughes Tweeted: “Hollie Doyle, some woman.”

Another racing fan said: “Fantastic effort from Hollie Doyle at Kempton this evening #girlpower.”

While one punter added: “It’s Hollie Doyle’s world and we are just living in it.”

Last August, Doyle, 24, became the first female jockey to ride five winners in one day at Windsor, and she is now the first female jock to have five winners in succession.

She said: “It’s great as these things don’t happen very often so you have got to make the most of them.

“I seem to do quite well here but I’ve had some good rides here today. Charlie Appleby’s horse has got a lot of potential and I thought if I get beat on that I will give up!

“I thought Archie’s should go close and to be honest when I spoke to Tony he filled me full of confidence with all three of his rides.

“You just need a bit of luck and I have had that. My agent has done me a good job in getting a good book of rides.

“I’m never satisfied with what I have done and I always want to achieve more and when you get on these sort of runs you always want to do better.”

Doyle has four rides at today’s all-weather fixture at Southwell, headlined by 9-4 favourite Rock Sound in the 2.15.
