How Man Utd could line up against Burnley with Marcus Rashford an injury doubt but Eric Bailly set to return

MARCUS RASHFORD remains a doubt for Manchester United’s clash with Burnley on Sunday.

But Eric Bailly could be in store for a recall after completing his self-isolation for coronavirus.

Marcus Rashford is a doubt for the Premier League clash through a foot injury

Rashford, 23, is recovering from a foot injury and was an unused substitute on Thursday night.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed his forward may be forced to sit out of a Premier League game for the first time this season.

Solskjaer said: “It was a bit of a bonus he didn’t have to put any pressure on himself [on Thursday].

“I’ve got to hope he’ll be available and not make it worse. That is the decision I have to make. Fingers crossed.

“He wasn’t due to be on bench yesterday. He didn’t train on Wednesday. But just in case, he put his hand up and said, ‘If needed I can do a job.’

“It is a decision I have to make on Sunday morning. He is important for us. It is a difficult one. We have to go by how he feels in a couple of days.”

Rashford’s potential absence could see Solskjaer stick with the front four that started the 2-0 win over Granada.

Edinson Cavani led the line – grabbing his second goal in five days – with Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in support.

Scott McTominay and Fred are set to continue in the United midfield together as Nemanja Matic is unlikely to play twice in four days.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof should retain their spots in defence with Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw returning.

The Three Lions pair and McTominay missed Thursday’s win through suspension.

Dean Henderson looks to be the first-choice goalkeeper for league games these days so he looks on course to start with David De Gea back on the bench.

However, Solskjaer may decide to mix things up and bring Bailly back into the defence.

The Ivorian, 27, snubbed a new contract at Old Trafford over a lack of playing time and, now available again after quarantine, Solskjaer may opt to hand Bailly a rare start.

If Rashford is fit, he could lead the line for the Red Devils on Sunday

The Norwegian said: “Eric has been isolating back home in Ivory Coast. He is back here now. I hope he’ll be available for the weekend.

“Hopefully he will train tomorrow and see how he feels. He had a test today, we need confirmation he’s still negative.

“Eric has played well when he’s played. I know there has been speculation. We are talking to him about his contract. I don’t see any issues with him.”

Alex Telles may feel he has done enough to keep in-form Shaw out.

Pogba might be dropped into a deeper midfield role to accommodate Daniel James starting, or the Welshman could be a direct replacement for Greenwood.

Should Rashford be declared fit to start, he may lead the line with 34-year-old Cavani rested – although putting him on the left wing is another option to take on Sean Dyche’s side.

Anthony Martial and Phil Jones remain sidelined through injury but there are no suspensions in the squad.
