Jockey Will Buick plumps for 2000 Guineas ride on Master Of The Seas and NOT antepost favourite One Ruler

JOCKEY Will Buick reckons he has a Master plan for the 2000 Guineas.

The Godolphin man has plumped for the ride on Master Of The Seas and NOT antepost favourite One Ruler.

Master Of The Seas was a taking winner of the Craven Stakes on the Rowley Mile two weeks back and Buick was clearly impressed.

One Ruler hasn’t been seen this season and James Doyle is in line to partner the 5-1 favourite.

The pair are trained by Charlie Appleby and he said: “It wasn’t an easy call for Will.

“He rode Master Of The Seas In the Craven and then sat on One Ruler in a routine gallop at home last week.

“Will asked some serious questions of Master Of The Seas in his race, and he was pleased with the response. I believed that’s what clinched it in the end.

“Of course, the final call comes at declaration time on Thursday.”

A total of 18 horses were left in at Monday’s entry stage and the bookies think One Ruler is the Godolphin number one.

And Appleby, who also has Naval Crown in the field, has been pleased with his work in the build-up.

He added: “Things have gone well with One Ruler. He is well in himself, and his work has been pleasing.

“Kieren Fallon, who has been riding him all winter, took him for a routine gallop at Moulton Paddocks on Saturday, and he was pleased.

“Kieren won the Guineas five times, so it’s great to have a rider with that experience on the team.”
