Floyd Mayweather to make boxing return on February 20 in Dubai exhibition bout held on a HELIPAD before 45th birthday

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has confirmed he will return for a boxing exhibition – on February 20 in Dubai.

It will come just four days before the boxing legend’s 45th birthday and will be staged on the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah’s helipad.

Mayweather announced: “February 20th, we haven’t chosen an opponent yet but I look forward to it and hopefully we give you guys something to see.”

The American officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 33, in a lucrative crossover bout.

But he has returned twice, both in exhibitions, starting with a one round demolition job over featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 23.

More recently, in June he was taken the distance over eight rounds by YouTuber Logan Paul, 26, who weighed TWO STONE more.

Mayweather insisted afterwards his time in the boxing ring had come to an end – both in a professional and spectacle capacity.

But it appears the sport’s richest ever fighter has once more had a change of heart, and is now planning on bringing several events to the Middle East.

He said: “One fight? We may do more than one fight.

“We want to give the people some entertainment. So yes, it will be more than one fight.”

Mayweather has previously distanced himself from ever returning to traditional boxing and doubled down on valuing this as entrainment, opposed to sport.

He said: “Well, I don’t like to call what I’m doing a fight. I like to call it a limited edition boxing showcase. Because it’s bigger than just boxing.”

Mayweather confirmed his return will be in front of a limited capacity, such is the unique setting of the exhibition.

He remarked: “It’s going to be a very special crowd, not too many people.

“So, if you get the chance to come here, you must know, you’re very, very special for this event.”
