ARSENAL transfer target Victor Osimhen claims Tottenham star Cristian Romero is the toughest defender he’s ever faced.

After ripping up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week deal to let him join Barcelona for free, the Gunners are desperate for attacking reinforcements.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

And that has led to Mikel Arteta allegedly making Napoli’s Nigerian star one of his top targets.

Gooners were able to get to know the 23-year-old a little better as he took part in an interview with Repubblica newspaper this week.

Osimhen, who is currently playing with a protective mask after damaging his cheekbone, revealed that his hero is Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

But it was the man that he named as his toughest opponent to date that will have raised most eyebrows – especially in North London.

He replied: “Romero, who is now at Tottenham. He was always faster than me every time we faced each other.

“The other one is Kalidou Koulibaly, he never let me score in training. When Nigeria were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations, I supported Senegal.”

Romero, 23, arrived at Spurs from Atalanta last summer in a loan move with a £47m option to buy.

Unfortunately for the defender he was ruled out over the festive period through injury but recently returned to action with Antonio Conte’s side.
