Arsenal star Mesut Ozil challenges fan to name his upcoming baby ‘Ozil’ and wants to see the birth certificate

ARSENAL star Mesut Ozil has made a ‘deal’ with a fan who promised he would name his unborn baby ‘Ozil’.

Gunners supporter Jack Robinson tweeted that his wife is expecting their child in July, and had agreed to a bizarre naming pact.

He claimed his wife has allowed him to name the poor child ‘Ozil’ – but only if the Arsenal and Germany midfielder would replay to the tweet.

He wrote to say: “@MesutOzil1088 wife is expecting in july she said if i can get you to reply i can name the kid Ozil, dont let me down.”

Four days later, Ozil replied, writing: “It’s a deal mate. I don’t let you down.

“Now it’s your turn. I want to see the birth certificate of your kid in July.”

The fan was over the moon with the star’s response and wrote: “Wow couldnt love you more, thanks for the reply ozil, wont let you down.”

Ozil, 31, is a Marmite figure at Arsenal.

Some love him because of his undoubted talent and touch of class, while others think he is too lazy and overpaid.

He has improved since Mike Arteta became manager and set up Alexandre Lacazette for the winner against West Ham last weekend.

The £350,000-a-week midfielder’s deal ends in 2021 with the club yet to open talks with the German 2014 World Cup winner over an extension.

The 31-year-old’s agent has revealed there are already a number of offers on the table from across the world, including at Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Yet the World Cup-winning midfielder is determined to see out his Arsenal contract.

Arsenal winger Mesut Ozil will not be going anywhere this summer, according to his agent

Dr Erkut Sogut said: “At the moment, we don’t even talk about it, because he still has one-and-a-half-years left.

“He still has 15 months to go. Until then, he will stay at Arsenal, for sure.

“He will stay until the end of his contract. There’s no chance he’ll leave.”

Ozil joined the Gunners from Real for £42.5m in 2013 and has been a much-maligned player with fans and managers alike during his time at The Emirates.

Sogut is also refusing to rule out a new contract at Arsenal if one is put on the table and it is the best option for Ozil.

He added: “I look at every option, I need to maximise and get the best contract for him.

“The options are coming in now. Maybe he will stay and have a new contract with Arsenal.

“Maybe he has a good end to the season and good next season and the club offers him a new contract. It’s down to the club in the end, not to me or Mesut.

“If the club is not giving him an offer then he can’t stay. If he gets an offer from the club he will consider it.”
