British billionaire and Chelsea fan Nick Candy ‘to make £2.5bn offer for club THIS WEEK’ and will revamp Stamford Bridge

CHELSEA fan Nick Candy is reportedly set to test Roman Abramovich’s resolve of the club by making a £2.5billion offer this week.

It was recently claimed how the British tycoon had entered the race to buy his beloved side after it was put up for sale by their Russian owner.

British billionaire Nick Candy is said to be preparing a bid to buy Chelsea

And according to the Daily Mail, the 49-year-old will soon turn his interest into a formal approach by the end of the week.

His £2.5bn proposal is said to include a £1.5bn plan for a rebuild of Stamford Bridge.

The news outlet states that the property developer is talking to a number of American investors about forming a consortium to buy the West London outfit.

A spokesperson for Candy told the Mail: “Nick Candy is actively exploring a number of options for a potential bid for Chelsea Football Club.

“Any bid would be made in conjunction with another party (or consortium) and we have serious interest from several international partners.

“‘Mr Candy has a huge affinity with Chelsea. His father was asked to play for the club and he has been watching matches at Stamford Bridge since the age of four.

“The club deserves a world class stadium and infrastructure and Mr Candy’s unique expertise and background in real estate would be a hugely valuable asset to delivering this vision.”

Candy’s proposed bid still falls £500m short of Abramovich’s £3bn valuation of Chelsea.

SunSport understands the Russian oligarch has an offer on the table from American billionaire Todd Boehly and his Swiss business partner Hansjorg Wyss.

The duo are now waiting to hear back from Abramovich.

Meanwhile Crystal Palace shareholder and American billionaire Josh Harris has also been linked with a move to buy the Champions League holders.

The Financial Times reports Chelsea are hoping to sell to either a European-based or American billionaire.

It is understood that Abramovich has set an initial March 15 deadline for bids to buy the club he bought for £140million in 2003.

Abramovich is being forced to sell up following his country’s invasion of Ukraine.
