Cheltenham Festival’s Guinness Village packed at 11am as punters get into Irish spirit on St Patrick’s Day

CHELTENHAM punters are already packing out the Guinness Village as the latest day of the Festival kicks off this afternoon.

Festival-goers are getting merry and in the spirit of things, as they celebrate St Patrick’s Day at The Jockey Club.

As usual, everyone is getting dressed up in their smartest gear on what is set to be a considerably drier day than yesterday at the course.

But there is distinctly more green to be spotted in the crowd, with punters celebrating St Paddy himself.

Gallons of booze will be consumed by fans around the club, as they take in what is set to be a fantastic day of action.

The Guinness Village was already packed out by 11am, with revellers eager to enjoy their day out to the max.

The day’s action gets underway at 1:30 with the Turners Novices’ Chase, in which Bob Olinger is the hot favourite.

The Ryanair Chase follows at 2:50, before the big one at 3:30 features horses trained by the likes of Willie Mullins, Nicky Henderson, Gavin Cromwell and more facing off in the Stayers’ Hurdle.

Finally at 5:30 is the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Chase.
