Thor emerged victorious, with two knockdowns and bragging rights to his name, as he won by unanimous decision.

But disaster almost struck in round two for Bjornsson after a right hook sent him into the ropes and facing a standing eight count.

He was also bundled to the deck by Hall’s sheer force – even though the referee called it a slip – with Thor still feeling the power.

Bjornsson, 33, said: “I’d also like to thank Eddie Hall and his team for putting up a hell of a show, he gave me a hell of a battle.

“I’ve never been dropped in training, so hats off to him. He really can punch. He wasn’t lying! But today, I feel technique won.”

It is believed a rematch clause has been included, for what was dubbed the heaviest boxing match in history.

And their near five-year feud could yet have another chapter after Bjornsson – nicknamed Thor – agreed to a sequel.

He said: “Understandably he seemed a bit angry still. He lost the fight so it’s understandable as well.
