Wolff has a trick up his sleeve to help Hamilton keep pace with Ferrari and Red Bull
Hamilton was not happy with his his new Mercedes motor in the build-up to the Formula One season opener in Bahrain.
Ferrari and Red Bull both looked sharper in practice.
And the Brit only ended up securing third place on the podium thanks to Red Bull’s disastrous late collapse.
Ferrari secured a one-two finish as Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz set the pace.
But Mercedes boss Wolff is planning on making some adjustments to Hamilton’s car so he can get an advantage in Saudi Arabia.
And the German insists it could be as simple as trimming the size of the car’s wings.
That could sacrifice stability, but it would also increase Hamilton’s top speed by reducing the drag.
Wolff said: “I think we were probably over-winged.

“We had too much drag and that’s just because we are lacking parts at the moment and hopefully we can remedy that.
“It’s half or a little bit more maybe of the top-speed advantage, but we need to really leave no stone unturned on the power unit side.
“It’s easier to shed drag off the car because you simply take a chainsaw and cut the rear wing to bits, and so that’s what we will do for Jeddah.”
