A hip flexor injury has reportedly ruled the Portuguese out of Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace

But the club legend will miss the Red Devils’ final match of the season away at Crystal Palace.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim a hip flexor problem has ruled the Portuguese out of Sunday’s match at Selhurst Park.

Six-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has struggled to maintain full fitness this season – with his hip flexor regularly giving him trouble.

But his injury woes haven’t stopped him from finding the back of the net an incredible 24 times in 39 appearances this campaign.

Ronaldo rejoined United from Juventus last summer – inking a two-year deal for his second stint at Old Trafford.

SunSport, however, understands the superstar held talks with agent Jorge Mendes about leaving the club earlier this year.

But judging from his recent Instagram post, the former Real Madrid man looks set to see out the remainder of his contract at The Theatre of Dreams.

Ahead of United’s 3-0 win over Brentford, he wrote: “Let’s take this opportunity of our last game of the season at Old Trafford to thank our amazing supporters, who endured a difficult season by our side and never abandoned us.

It’s unclear what role, if any, new United boss Erik ten Hag sees for Ronaldo next season.

The Dutchman, who is set to replace interim boss Ralf Rangnick, recenty recalled a brief chat he had with Ronaldo during Ajax’s 2019 Champions League quarter-final tie with Juventus.

He told Ajax TV: “That was an interesting chat. “I think he could appreciate the way we played.
