CANELO ALVAREZ insists he “risks everything” when steps into the ring following his unsuccessful return to light-heavyweight.
Canelo, 31, came up short in his bid to become a two-time 175lb champion against Dmitry Bivol earlier this month and lost his spot atop the pound-for-pound rankings.
But falling from the summit of the P4P list means little to the Mexican in his quest for greatness.
The undisputed super-middleweight king said: “I risk everything to keep making history when I don’t need to risk anything.
“I’ve already achieved so many things.
“I’m in a position where I don’t have to risk anything, and I still do it, and nobody does that when they are in a position like the one I’m in.

Canelo will look to return to the win column in a September trilogy fight with bitter rival Gennady Golovkin.
The pair’s third showdown has been four years in the making following Canelo’s controversially-awarded majority decision victory in their September 2018 rematch.
And he’s determined to silence GGG and his legion of fans once and for all with an undisputable performance.

He said: “It’s always been very personal with him. That will never go away.
“After we finished the two fights, it still feels the same [very personal]. He [Golovkin] has never stopped talking about me.
“If you see, I never mentioned his name. I’ve always been in his mouth, he’s always talked about me, and that makes it even more personal.
