Lucas Browne pull off SHOCK win over Junior Fa as 43-year-old heavyweight lands huge punch to knock out rival

LUCAS BROWNE silenced the critics with a huge knock-out victory over Junior Fa.

The 43-year-old was viewed as finished after his shock loss to Paul Gallen last April, but he bounced back in style in Melbourne.

Browne’s first round knockout was priced at 100/1 with some bookmakers

The victory crowned Brown the WBA Oceania Champion

The Australian nailed Fa with a big right hand early in the first round, which left the Kiwi in a bad way.

While the referee didn’t immediately stop the fight, Browne got the job done just a few seconds later.

“He shouldn’t of been allowed to continue, he was wobbling everywhere, but as soon as he (the referee) said keep going I thought all right, another one is coming.

“I’ve got the power to knock anyone out in the world.”

A first round knockout for ‘Big Daddy’ was priced at 100/1 with some bookmakers, who clearly had as much faith in a bounce back performance as many pundits in the sport.

Aussie commentator Barry Michael was one of those voices who had casted doubt over Browne’s future in the game, but the new WBA Oceania heavyweight champion was not shy in reminding him of his comments.

Michael said: “He’s having a crack at me because I basically thought he should retire, but he just proved me wrong.

“I just thought it was a deadset tough ask for Lucas Browne. But the last thing that goes with any boxer is your power.”

The defeat for Fa will be a tough one to take for Fa, who had recently pushed fellow Kiwi Joseph Parker close in a defeat by decision.

Fa’s displays against Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte lead to him being a hot favourite for the fight, but being rocked early left him with little chance.
