‘I’d leave for LIV’ – Golf fans slam ‘horrendous’ idea as PGA Tour offer chance to dine & watch action from 150ft in sky

GOLF fans have given a mixed response to the PGA Tour’s latest vertigo-inducing gimmick.

The Tour is offering punters a chance to watch action at this week’s Canadian Open suspended 150ft above St George’s.

The PGA Tour released a video of golf fans enjoying ‘Dinner in the Sky’

Run by company ‘Dinner in the Sky’, diners are strapped in as they’re taken airborne for a meal not for the faint of heart.

PGA organizers are currently reeling after the loss of several star names to the Saudi-backed LIV Series.

And many fans of the Tour were not won over by the unusual idea, which first debuted in Canada five years ago.

There’s room for 22 guests around the dining table which is then lifted high into the Ontario sky by a crane.

As well as the lucky diners, a chef also makes the stomach-churning journey and gets to work cooking on the in-built appliances.

They’re joined by servers, who are strapped to the roof by a rope to prevent any accidents – especially if the wind gets up.

Each guest is given a chair which can swivel 180 degrees to ensure they can catch a stunning view of the golf course.

Not reserved for just golf events, Dinner in the Sky has been thrilling diners in 60 countries over the last few years.

But many social media users were baffled by the idea when a video showcasing the bizarre meal was posted from the official PGA Tour Twitter page.

Along with a mind-blown emoji, the Tour captioned it: “Unlike any other seat on TOUR.”

‘SIGN ME UP!’

One user slammed the idea as “horrendous” and said: “If I played on tour I’d leave for the LIV Tour just because of this.”

While another said: “Looks like the punishment for the LIV defectors.”

But there were some with a head for heights, with one fan saying: “Oh yes. Sign me up.”

Another user cut straight to the chase – asking the question we were all thinking.

They said: “What happens if you need to go pee?”

The PGA Tour has suffered a difficult few days with Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter and others jumping ship to the LIV Series.

Ex-golf pro Paige Spiranac mocked Mickelson with a ‘big boobies’ jibe after Lefty announced his participation.

While Greg Norman – who has played an integral role in setting up the new series – revealed that Tiger Woods turned down an offer of $1BN to play.
