Mesut Ozil could leave Arsenal on a free transfer as club prioritise new deals for Aubameyang, Nelson and Saka

ARSENAL could let Mesut Ozil leave on a free because they are prioritising new deals for three other players, according to reports.

World Cup winner Ozil, 31, is coming towards the final 12 months of his £350,000-a-week deal in North London.

Arsenal could let £350,000-a-week star Ozil leave for free when his contract is up

But, much like club hero Aaron Ramsey who was allowed to join Juventus on a free, the German could go for nothing.

That is because Mikel Arteta is reportedly more concerned with tying down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka, say the Express.

Striker Aubameyang – who has been linked to Barcelona – is out of contract in 2021 and Emirates chiefs want him to stay having impressed since his £56m arrival from Dortmund in January 2018.

Forward Nelson, 20, and wing-back Saka, 18, also see their deals end next summer.

Talks are ongoing with Saka while Nelson has proved he can fill the boots of £72m club-record signing Nicolas Pepe.

Both have impressed the Gunners hierarchy with performances beyond their years and it is believed they each have long careers ahead of them at Arsenal.

New dad Ozil, who shared a first photo of his baby daughter Eda yesterday, is happy where he is and does not want to move, according to his agent.

Erkut Sogut told Goal: “You never know in football. First of all, you can never predict the movement of players.

“I have said it before and I am saying it again that he is really happy where he is at Arsenal.

“He still has a contract to go and there is no change.

“We will see what the future holds when the contract ends but for now, there is nothing I can say.”
