Arsenal star Granit Xhaka APOLOGISED to team-mates at half-time of North London derby against Tottenham

ARSENAL midfielder Granit Xhaka reportedly apologised to his team-mates at half-time during the North London derby on Saturday.

The Gunners made it seven wins from eight Premier League matches with a 3-1 win over rivals Tottenham at the Emirates.

Xhaka was instrumental in helping Arsenal beat Tottenham on Saturday

But with the two sides level at 1-1 after 45 minutes, Xhaka took it upon himself to say sorry to the rest of the dressing room.

The incident in question came during the build-up to Tottenham‘s equaliser from the penalty spot.

Xhaka failed to clear his lines moments before Gabriel brought Richarlison down inside the area.

And Anthony Taylor gave the penalty, before Harry Kane dispatched beyond Aaron Ramsdale.

According to The Mail, Xhaka took responsibility for the goal when the players went in at the break.

He then went and atoned for the error in the second period, scoring Arsenal’s third as they finished off the 10 men of Spurs following Emerson Royal’s dismissal.

Xhaka looked set to leave Arsenal in 2019 after being stripped of the captaincy.

His relationship with the Gunners faithful appeared to be untenable as a move away seemed imminent.

But he has stuck it out at the club and is now a key part of Mikel Arteta’s team.

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table, one point clear of champions Manchester City.

They host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, before a home game against Liverpool on Sunday.
