This is a very complex topic. I used to always be obsessed with time. I always thought whoever controlled the element of time could control the world.

When asked what superpower I wanted as a kid I always said I’d want the ability to control time. However I’ve learnt to be very comfortable living in today’s world.

I wouldn’t want to go back or forward. I’m very happy living as who I am today. So I’d stay put.

How to box efficiently

Boxing has become a very popular sport. It is a fight between two opponents. Each country has its own rules. There are generally three types of boxing: Amateur, Professional, and Olympic.

Amateur boxing can be practiced at school or college. This form of boxing involves sparring with no protection and using padded gloves. Amateur boxing contests are usually three rounds in length, lasting five minutes each. There are many different styles of amateur boxing including Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Wrestling and others.

Professional boxing is usually practiced in gyms, clubs or stadiums. They are protected by protective equipment like a mouthpiece, nose protector, shinguards, elbow pads and knee pads, waist belt, and groin protection. Professional boxing contests last six rounds and last for four minutes each. There are many different types of professional Boxing such as Boxing, MMA, Kickboxing, Muay Thai or Taekwondo.

Olympic boxing can be seen at the Olympics. Boxers are required to wear international standards-compliant protective gear. The eight rounds last three minutes each and are held over eight rounds. Olympic boxing has only two styles, Light Flyweight vs Heavyweight.

Boxing is based on the following skills:

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Movement of the body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch has its own technique. Some punches are more powerful than others. A strong uppercut for example requires a lot of force. On the contrary, a straight punch takes less power but is faster than most punches.

There are many combinations that can be used to punch. These are combinations made up of several punches that can be used together to achieve one goal. An entire combination could have several parts. An example of this is a left hook, followed by a right crossing. This will damage the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer protects himself by using his body. He does this by using his legs, arms, elbows, hands, knees and feet.

Legs

Boxers must use their legs to defend themselves against kicks. When he receives a kick, he raises his leg and moves away from the attacker. To avoid being kicked on his side, he will bend his knees if the attack is from the front. If the attack is from the side, he will bend his knees to avoid being kicked on the side.

Elbows

Because they inflict pain, elbow strikes can be very effective. An elbow strike may be delivered directly or in an indirect manner. Directly means you hit your opponent directly with your forearm. While indirectly, it means you hit him with another section of your arm.

Hands

Boxers use their arms to stop incoming blows. To do so, they raise their fists above their head and move them towards the direction of the attack. They then touch the attackers fist.

Knees

A boxer should bend his knees in order to absorb any blows to his stomach, abdomen, chest or stomach. A lot of boxers use knee strikes to defend themselves.

Feet

If he is being attacked, a boxer must take a step back and counter-attack. This will allow him to gain distance from his opponent. In addition, when delivering a counter-attack, a boxer should keep his balance.

Stances

Boxing effectively requires a boxer to have a good stance. His stance determines how he defends himself. It is how he positions himself and where he faces the opponent. Boxers have many options for stances. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • A low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Body Movement

A boxer must be able to move around his opponent in order to win a fight. This means changing your speed, position and rhythm.

Rotation

To increase his punching power, a boxer rotates when he throws a punch. You can rotate at different speeds depending upon the punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch determines the effectiveness of a combination. A combination is good if it starts with a strong punch then ends with a weaker one.

Spare parts

Sparring is a training session that improves boxing skills. Boxers learn to train their mind and bodies during sparring sessions. Sparring is a way to learn how to fight without getting hurt.

Learning to box takes dedication and patience. Boxing is a sport that requires dedication and perseverance.
