And the nation’s favourite jockey revealed: “It’s a little gesture and our way of saying thanks for what a great job the NHS is doing. Hopefully the drinks will help.”

Dettori will this week personally deliver the bottles to his nearby Newmarket Hospital.

He added: “It’s my local hospital and we try to support the staff there.

“As soon as I’m given the green light, I want to drive the truck there and hand over the drinks personally.”

The hospital has 100 NHS staff working on the virus frontline and also become a testing centre.

Italian superstar Dettori, 49, is also helping to raise £100,000 for the NHS through the Equestrian Relief initiative and has launched an appeal for Italy’s Red Cross.

Two of his most famous horses, Arc wondermare Enable and dual Gold Cup winner Stradivarius, have been carrying the NHS Rainbow logo on their blankets at trainer John Gosden’s Newmarket yard.

Dettori, who drinks iPro as part of his training regime, added: “As a shareholder I thought it would be a good gesture to give some of our product to the brilliant NHS staff at the Newmarket Hospital.”

And iPro are also allocating free drinks to 56 other hospitals in the UK.

Dettori added: “Look how many people have lost their lives. Handing out free drinks was the least we could do.”

An iPro spokesperson added: “We are delighted we are in a position to support the amazing NHS frontline staff who are doing a phenomenal job with round-the-clock care to patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
