EVERTON are reportedly desperate to snap up Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez as Carlo Ancelotti looks to sign the player for the third time.
The Toffees boss brought the Colombian international to the Bernabeu in 2014, before he lured him to Bayern Munich on a two-year loan in 2017.
Bayern rejected the chance to turn his loan spell into a permanent deal last summer, with the ex-Monaco star returning to Los Blancos where he has featured just 13 times this season.
With just one year to run on his contract, Real are keen to avoid losing him on a free, with it claimed they would be willing to part ways with him for a fee of £35million.
And with the Copa America pushed back until next year due to the coronavirus crisis, Rodriguez knows he must be playing regularly if he wants to be called up.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the two-time Champions League winner has a four-year deal on the table from Everton.
They are said to be the most interested club in for the player, but they do face competition from fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves, while Inter Miami are also another side keen on him.
It has been claimed that Ancelotti would love to be reunited with Rodriguez once again, with the Italian alleged to have failed to bring him to Napoli.
Everton certainly have the cash to spend with owner Farhad Moshiri dipping deep into his pocket in recent years as he longs for Champions League football.
In the 2015/16 season Everton forked out over £81million on players, before spending an incredible £182m the following campaign.
A year later, Moshiri spent again over £80m, with this term’s total expenditure coming in at £109m.
The club have come eighth in each of the last two seasons, with their only top-four finish coming during the 2004/05 campaign.
