Watch Isak’s ‘assist of season’ as he humiliates three Everton players in amazing run – but has it taken away from him

ALEXANDER ISAK shone once again for Newcastle with an outrageous dribble to set up Jacob Murphy against Everton.

But after fans hailed the forward for the “assist of the season”, Isak had it taken away from him.

The forward somehow wriggled free despite appearing to be going nowhere

Isak poked the ball across the face of goal for Murphy to tap home

He was not credited with the assist because the ball was deflected before Murphy scored

The 23-year-old initially picked the ball up on the left hand side, just inside the Everton half.

He breezed past Ben Godfrey, before seemingly running into trouble in the form of Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye.

Isak initially turned back away from goal, before spinning with the ball and weaving his way past both Keane and Gueye.

The Swedish forward then drove into the box, skipping past Godfrey again before poking the ball across the face of goal.

And Murphy was there at the back post to tap home for Newcastle with the simplest of finishes.

However, despite Isak’s excellent work, he was not credited with the assist as the ball appeared to take at least one deflection on its way to Murphy’s feet.

Nevertheless, Murphy showed his appreciation to Isak by pointing to his team-mate after scoring, with fans on social media also waxing lyrical over Isak’s solo dribble.

One gushed on Twitter: “What a run by Isak!!! Assist of the season for sure.”

Another added: “That’s an assist of the season contender by Isak. Wtf have I just watched.”

A third said: “Isak with assist of the season!!!! No question, that is sheer world class level s***.”

And a fourth wrote: “Assist of the season from Isak. What a run!”

Murphy scored the final goal on the night to seal a comfortable 4-1 win for Eddie Howe’s side.

Callum Wilson initially put the Magpies ahead on 28 minutes, before Joelinton made it two after the break.

Wilson then struck again, before Dwight McNeil netted directly from a corner to pull one back for Everton.

But Murphy netted just one minute later after Isak’s brilliant run to move Howe and Co one step closer to Champions League qualification.
