Incredibly rare ‘one-off’ opportunity to own Royal Ascot runner in your own colours set to spark bidding frenzy

AN incredibly rare ‘one-off’ chance to buy a share in a Royal Ascot runner is expected to spark a bidding frenzy.

Online auctioneers Thoroughbid are offering a 50 per cent share in Jersey Stakes runner Thunderbear.

Trainer Davison is dreaming of a Royal Ascot winner with Thunderbear – and you could own half the horse in your colours

The three-year-old gelding was a highly promising fourth behind Aidan O’Brien’s The Antartic in a Group 3 at Naas last month.

Sent off an insulting 50-1, he finished just over a length behind the Ryan Moore-ridden favourite having won his previous start over six furlongs at Nottingham.

This son of Kodi Bear is trained and co-owned by Jack Davison, who has previous at the famous Royal meeting.

His Mooneista finished fourth in last year’s Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes, netting a cool £26,400.

The same horse brought home just under £5,000 after coming sixth in the previous year’s Commonwealth Cup.

Davison said: “I love the Royal meeting.

“We’ve managed to get a runner there in three of the last four years and we’ve only been training for five years.

“It’s what it is all about, in terms of the European Flat season.

“It’s the main event and this horse is one I’m priming for it.

“I’m looking forward to it and it’s really exciting to have a horse that I think can be a genuine contender at Royal Ascot.”

Thunderbear is rated 107 and will be running over seven furlongs in the Jersey, a trip Davison believes will suit him perfectly.

James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said: “These one-off, one-horse sales always generate a lot of excitement.

“The chance to own 50 per cent of a Royal Ascot runner, including having the horse run in their colours, is a unique offering and we’re looking forward to seeing the bids fly in next Thursday.

“Thunderbear is clearly a horse on the up with plenty of raw ability.

“He was a very stylish winner at Nottingham two starts back and followed that up with a really good fourth in the Lacken Stakes to The Antarctic, who himself has serious claims in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup.

“Whoever ends up winning the bidding on Thursday looks to have a live chance in the Jersey Stakes and a very smart prospect for the season ahead, that’s for sure.”

The bid will take place on Thursday June 15. You must register in order to bid: https://thoroughbid.co.uk/register
