Jennifer Lopez donates a years worth of food to elementary school where story of hungry student went viral

JENNIFER Lopez surprised students and teachers at an elementary school with a donation of a year’s worth of food on Thursday.

The 50-year-old superstar and her fianc Alex Rodriguez sent Jacksboro Elementary School a stack of meals for their pantry after reading about how one of the students often goes hungry, in a viral post by a teacher.

J-Lo shared a video of the donation arriving as she joined A-Rod to FaceTime the staff and pupils at the school.

She explained that she was inspired by seeing teacher Brooke Goins’ post about being brought to tears by a hungry pupil.

“We heard teachers were helping students bring home food when they didn’t have enough. When we saw this story, it brought tears not just to my eyes, but Alex’s as well!” wrote the Hustlers actress.

“I dont know if you guys know, but Alex and I are part owners in a company called Tiller & Hatch, and we decided to donate a years worth of of their yummy, healthy meals, for the students and their schools food pantry,” she added.

Jennifer and Alex were seen on the video telling the excited viewers in the school that they were “so touched.”

“You know my mom was a teacher,” she explained, “and we were so moved,” as she admitted that she and Alex had both shed a tear at the touching story.

She finished the caption on her video with a plug for there company, writing: “We are happy to be in business with partners who also believe no child should EVER have to go to sleep hungry. Everyone should have access to delicious, nutritious food.

“This was my favorite moment of the month and its one of the best things weve been able to do.”

The couple made the generous and thoughtful gesture

The original Facebook post by Goinsexplained that she was brought to tears after hearing a student was out of food at home and needed some from school.

Today I cried at work. Not because I hate my job, or that it is just too hard (it really is). Today I cried for a child, a child who so innocently talked about food, and the lack of it.
