Jadon Sancho’s Man Utd transfer on hold as Dortmund ‘wait until market is back to normal’ to receive £100m-plus fee

JADON SANCHO’S proposed £100million-plus move to Manchester United is “on hold”, according to reports.

Borussia Dortmund are said to be waiting until the transfer market returns to normal after the financial meltdown brought about by coronavirus.

Sancho’s proposed £100m move to Man Utd from Borussia Dortmund is said to be on hold

The Telegraph report that fees and wages are expected to drop by 50 per cent when the summer window opens.

But Dortmund are determined to get what ex-Man City kid Sancho, 20, is worth and will reportedly hold out for the full £100m figure.

Sancho has two seasons left on his deal with the Bundesliga club but will still command a big fee before his final year.

Dortmund stand to make a massive profit on the £8m they paid City for the England winger in 2017.

Rivals fans taunted United over their bid to land Sancho yesterday after the club’s finances were revealed.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and a lack of Champions League football, net debts soared to £429million – a rise of £127.4m.

Ed Woodward has previously insisted big-money acquisitions are off the table in the coming summer.

Sancho’s team-mate and ex-Liverpool man Emre Can has begged him to stay in Germany – even though SunSport told you United have agreed almost every detail of Sancho’s deal.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Can, who is on loan at Dortmund from Juventus, said that he is hopeful Sancho will stay put.

The 26-year-old said: “I see no reason to put Manchester United above Borussia Dortmund.

“Not from a sporting side and not because of the appeal.

“I’d tell him to stay put and let’s play together forever.

“Jadon has class that not a lot of players possess. I noticed that fairly quickly. He’s enormously important for us.”

Meanwhile, United legend Rio Ferdinand has suggested throwing caution to the wind and blowing £250m on Sancho, Kalidou Koulibaly and Saul Niguez this summer.

He told the BBC’s Savage Social podcast: “Sancho, Koulibaly and Saul Niguez.

“I think Harry Kane’s been linked but if I’m pushing for an attacking player I’d still go for Sancho, he gives you that little bit of imagination and I think he gives you that little bit of spice that they haven’t got at the moment.”
