Man Utd hope to sell Marcos Rojo in £12m transfer this summer with Boca Juniors and Estudiantes interested

MANCHESTER UNITED are hoping to receive £12million for out-of-favour defender Marcos Rojo this summer, according to reports.

The Argentine was shipped out on loan to Estudiantes in January having made only one Premier League start in the first half of the season.

Marcos Rojo will finally be shipped out this summer

According to the Mirror, the move could be made permanent this summer, although domestic giants Boca Juniors are also said to be interested.

Rojo managed just one appearance for Estudiantes following his loan move because of a nasty knee injury.

But now fit-again, the 30-year-old’s stock remains high in his home country.

The coronavirus pandemic is set to squeeze club finances hard in the coming months – with any chunk of transfer revenue to be most welcome as teams try and navigate a chaotic market.

And receiving £12m for an out-of-favour player with only a year left on his contract may be a tough ask.

But having multiple interested parties could help United chiefs drum up their price.

Rojo has made 122 appearances for for the Red Devils since being signed by Louis van Gaal for £16million in 2014.

He had just appeared for his country at left-back in the World Cup final – but persistent injuries and a reckless streak on the pitch damaged Old Trafford prospects.

His number of appearances dwindled hugely at the tail end of his United career – and he nearly joined Everton on Deadline Day last summer.

The Argentine certainly never shirked a tackle at Old Trafford

But with the move failing to materialise, he did manage to muster a few nice last games in red.

His one and only Premier League start this season came in the very respectable 1-1 draw against Liverpool in October.

And he also played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 League Cup victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
