Man Utd and Real Madrid transfer blow as Rennes rule out Eduardo Camavinga leaving this summer

MANCHESTER UNITED and Real Madrid have been told Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga will not be allowed to leave this summer.

The Angola-born 17-year-old £25million midfield wonderkid was on the radar of United and the LaLiga giants, who had hoped to grab him on the cheap.

Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga is not likely to move to Manchester United this summer

But Rennes are determined to hang on to their prized asset – at least for another year.

The youngster made his debut just four months after his 16th birthday, with United scouts being hugely impressed.

He clocked up 33 appearances for Rennes this season before Ligue 1 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Madrid were favourites to sign him.

They are looking for a long-term replacement for Brazilian midfielder Camesiro.

But Rennes club president Nicolas Holveck told RTL television in France: “For Eduardo Camavinga, the project is to continue to progress at Stade Rennais.

“Very sincerely, yes, the project next season will be with Eduardo.”

Camavinga gave every indication he could stay in France beyond his 18th birthday.

In an interview with Ouest France, he said: “Honestly, I don’t focus too much on that.

“Certainly, it’s nice that big clubs like the ones mentioned are interested in me, but conversely, I’m not too interested in that.

“Especially since I am doing well at Rennes. We’ll see what happens next, I’ll let my parents and my agents manage this.

“I don’t look too much, but I see anyway. In fact, I can’t avoid it. Sometimes, I’m quickly on social networks and I see things or friends send me articles.”

Liverpool have also been linked with the teenager.
