DANIEL DUBOIS is set to showdown with Joe Joyce in a huge all-British heavyweight fight.
Dubois, 22, is one of Britain’s hottest prospects and has a proud unbeaten record of 14 straight wins.
His fight against Joyce is set to be the biggest test of his professional career as he takes on the 34-year-old former Olympian.
Joyce boasts win against the likes of Bermans Stiverne, Alexander Ustinov and Bryant Jennings, just in 2019.
Joyce is set for action this weekend as he takes on Michael Wallisch in a 10-round main event from BT Sport Studio in London.
When is Dubois vs Joyce?
The fight was scheduled to go ahead on Saturday, April 11 but due to the pandemic it was scrapped.
Now a new date of October 24 has been slated and it will be held in the O2 arena as originally planned.
Promoter Frank Warren has talked about the announcement of the rescheduled date: “Lockdown has meant a delay, but we all want the fight to take place in October and we are hopeful that the government will give us the all-clear.
“What a position the winner will be in. They will be nailed on for a world title shot in 2021.”
Dubois has been working hard since lockdown began but it didn’t come without its struggles.
He said: “I’ll be ready to go in October for sure. It has been tough during lockdown, but I have ticked over and I’m back in the Peacock gym helping my sparring partner Dorin Krasmaru get ready for his behind closed doors fight on Frank Warren’s bill on July 10.
“Hopefully in the near future I will be able to get some good overseas sparring in. I’ll be ready for October 24, so I hope Joe is coming prepared.”
Joyce was thought to be excited about the news, saying that he was staying on top of training and he ‘can’t wait to punch up Dubois’.
