Deontay Wilder’s team confirm Tyson Fury trilogy fight and deny talk Bronze Bomber will give-up rematch opportunity

DEONTAY’S WILDER camp have denied again that the Bronze Bomber will give up his trilogy fight against Tyson Fury.

The Gypsy King destroyed the American back in February to take the WBC heavyweight title in their highly-anticipated rematch.

Deontay Wilder is 100 per cent going to fight Tyson Fury in a trilogy clash

As part of the contract for that fight, the option of third showdown was included as part of the deal.

Wilder, 34, instantly declared his intention to invoke that after his corner threw in the towel against the Brit.

However, reports have been mounting that he could accept a huge cash figure to step aside to let Fury face Anthony Joshua in a huge heavyweight unification clash after the English pair agreed a two-fight package for 2021.

Dillian Whyte is also the mandatory challenger for the title, and has threatened legal action in order to get his chance.

But despite suggestions to the contrary, Wilder is 100 per cent pressing ahead with his shot at revenge.

His co-manager Shelly Finkel blasted rumours of his man stepping aside and says he is “sick” of them.

He told World Boxing News: “If I didn’t consider you a friend, I wouldn’t even answer this question.

“I wouldn’t respond to the question as I have answered this before.

“Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are fighting. That’s it.”

The main obstacle to confirming the showdown at present is that the Las Vegas venue of MGM Grand remains unable to be packed-out with fans.

Talks are ongoing over allowing some sort of attendance there, with a further delay still possible until it can fully re-open.

It is still hoped it will be staged between December and February 2021.

Nevada has recorded 44,000 cases of coronavirus with under 750 deaths so far, making it one of the lesser-affected states in the US.
