England captain Eoin Morgan forced to pop dislocated finger back in against Australia live on BBC… then plays on

HEROIC Eoin Morgan was dubbed ‘Ironfinger’ after dislocating a digit against Australia – then bravely playing on once it was popped back in.

The England T20 captain’s ring finger on his right hand snapped backwards after he tried to stop a Marcus Stoinis drive in the ninth over.

England captain Morgan’s finger was bent horribly out of shape

Morgan received treatment quickly and was amazingly back playing just three balls later

The gruesome injury was shown live on the BBC’s coverage of the clash at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Morgan, 33, called for help and a physio rushed on to treat the injured skipper – who looked to be in pain.

But amazingly he was back with a minimum of fuss just three balls later after having it fixed.

His bravery stunned those watching at home as England thrashed the Aussies by six wickets.

One said: “Eoin Morgan has just dislocated his finger and is still fielding. That’s my captain.”

Another tweeted: “Lol at Eoin Morgan treating a dislocated finger like ‘tsk, what a minor inconvenience’.

“If I looked down and saw one of my digits at a 90 degree angle I would IMMEDIATELY chunder all over myself and anyone unfortunate enough to be within a five metre vicinity.”

A fellow user wrote: “Eoin Morgan back on the field after heading off with a dislocated finger. He’s made of strong stuff though, he missed three balls.”

Morgan called for help once he realised what had happened to his finger

He looked in pain having it popped back in place but was back in rapid time

One tweet read: “Millions of respect to England skipper @Eoin16. He had literally broken his finger in the second T20I vs @CricketAus and was in great pain but still came back and lead the team… Even managed to bat with the broken finger.”

And one shocked viewer wrote: “Has Eoin Morgan just popped his finger back into place like it’s nothing?”

Jos Buttler was another one of the heroes on the pitch during the game.

His 77 not out was finished with a humongous straight six off Adam Zampa that landed alongside his mates in the dressing-room several floors up.

England already have an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series and, if they win the third and final match on Tuesday, they will overtake Australia at the top of the world Twenty20 rankings.
