Punters left scratching heads as racing continues in heavy snow at Chantilly and commentator can’t tell field apart

PUNTERS were left scratching their heads as the action unfolded at Chantilly Racecourse in France.

A heavy snow storm meant even the commentator struggled to tell which horse was which.

A cavalry charge of 16 horses were sent off for the 12.05 over a mile-and-five-furlongs for the Route Justice Handicap.

But as the field left the stalls the poor commentator struggled to tell the runners apart.

The heavy snow made spotting the silks nigh on impossible and it was only late in the straight where punters knew if there might be in the money.

And it was 9-2 shot Dance The Blues who just got the better of My Lenny in a photo finish.

The commentator joked halfway: “They’ve hit the home straight now, and into the teeth of the blizzard they go.

“It’s an absolute wipeout here at Chantilly!”

After the fourth race on the card the stewards decided to delay the next race for an extra half an hour.

The officials would then make a call whether the track remained raceable or not.

One punter said: “Can’t believe they’re still racing at Chantilly in blizzard conditions.

“Good luck trying to work out how each horse is running!”

“They should call it off imo. Going to be impossible to try and work out what happened in each race for future purposes.”
